This challenge can change your life if you allow it to.

I love this image above because it portrays exactly the attitude of success that I want to achieve. I want to wake up motivated and full of pep so I can go to bed feeling proud and accomplished. This is what I hope for you as well.

Speaking of, I’m thrilled you’re here! The next 21 days are going to be challenging, and I’m here to help you get the most out of them. I firmly believe that if you take this challenge seriously, you can alter your life in ways you’ve never imagined.

You being here signifies that you’re ready to lose weight, tone up, or you just need a good jump start to get back on track — whatever it may be, I’m here to help you uncover your reasons so you will have more to rely on than pure motivation since we know motivation only gets you so far. You need a more compelling reason to get you showing up every day and doing the hard work. That’s the only way this challenge is going to work for you.

My reasons for this challenge will most certainly vary from yours — my goal is to keep you accountable and interested while providing a workout that’s fun, challenging, and focused on your core. I also want to get back into a routine, which the warm summer breeze swept away!

First I recommend that you sit for 10 minutes and contemplate why you are here. Focus on your personal reason for signing up. Resist the urge to give flippant answers, and instead, describe in detail what you want to accomplish. This is so important it can’t be stressed enough.

Once you’ve done that, may I suggest the following:

1. Make this challenge a priority.

Schedule it, tell your friends about it, share it on social (using #TummyChallenge2020), whatever will keep you honest about showing up every day, because that’s essential and the sole difference-maker. It’s being the professional, who knows their job is bigger than they are, and they show up regardless versus the amateur who dabbles, finds excuses, and doesn’t take it seriously.

So no matter how many excuses you can muster up from here till Sunday, you must show up every day. Otherwise, this isn’t for you.

You’re here to create change and you need to focus on that change. I know you’re ready to do the work that will create a body you can be confident of, and dare I say, in love with! THAT’S exactly why I do these challenges, it’s not for the accolades, fame, or fortune — which there are none but don’t tell my ego that — but to give you the opportunity to love you! All of you.

2. Create a Routine.

I love a good routine. It’s how I performed 917 squats in a month, how I worked up to a 2-minute plank, and how I completed 200 push-ups over 4 weeks. A routine keeps me focused and on track.

Your routine doesn’t have to be complicated or disruptive to your day. Simply pick a time, or place, or event that will trigger a response from you. Meaning, commit to doing your workout first thing in the morning, or in the corner of your bedroom, or immediately after you’ve brushed your teeth.

Routines reinforce consistent behavior and consistency is the key — THE KEY — to creating lasting change.

3. Banish All Your Excuses!

Banish them because they’re what keep you locked in a 10×10 living space even when there are no walls stopping you from stepping out (aka comfort zone).

Excuses are the reason you’re not in love with your body. They’re why you’re where you are versus where you want to be.

It’s time to get uncomfortable and believe that the work you’re doing will bring about a change. With a concrete routine in place, as mentioned above, you diminish the power of a really good excuse.

Your Wellness is a Non-Negotiable.

Yes, we all have busy, hectic lives and things have a tendency to get away from us, but if you make this challenge a priority, and commit to showing up every day with a routine and a no-tolerance excuse policy in place, then this challenge becomes something you cannot forgo, skip, or double up on another day.

By making this challenge a non-negotiable, you can’t talk yourself out of it. In fact, if weight loss or improving your health is a priority, you’re going to want to ask yourself these 7 powerful questions to help you achieve your goals.

Don’t give up on yourself because someone or something else requires your attention. You’re just as important as that thing you’re choosing over yourself. You can spare the 5 or 10 minutes a day this will take and still get to everything else that needs your attention.

Don’t let a busy life be your excuse. Your health matters!

Thank you for being part of the #TummyChallenge2020! You’re going to rock it!
